Pat Roome is a 40-plus-year Master Gardener with a large garden in Bellevue in which she grows vegetables, flowers, fruit trees, shrubs, and trees. She has taught horticultural topics in the community to many groups over the years, and her classes have always been in high demand.  Pat has been a gardener all her life. She even remembers being just three years old and transplanting seedling Snapdragons.

She and her husband emigrated to Seattle and Pat was keen to pursue her love of plants. She started her landscape design work in the early 1970s and, shortly after, became a Master Gardener. Later she became a Certified Professional Horticulturist in Washington State and was hired by several prestigious engineering companies as a Landscape Consultant. Pat was instrumental in the development of the Bellevue Botanical Garden and will discuss how the Botanical Garden began in 1984. She will also describe the details of her involvement in the planning and design of two of the features in the garden.
